Be sure to read a university's website very carefully! There's a difference between New York City and New York State! The undergraduate programs (that is, the ones that grant bachelor's degrees) of Cornell University are located a few hours north of Manhattan, in Ithaca, New York. On the bus behind me, you can see the Cornell campus' iconic Lake Cayuga, on the left. The other side of the image that stretches the length of the bus shows the Empire State Building. This symbolizes the reach of Cornell University, from upstate New York to the heart of New York City.Which Cornell programs are located in New York City? The Weil Cornell Medical Center comprises some of the oldest and most distinguished hospitals in the city, as well as the medical school of Cornell. Cornell recently completed a whole new campus on Roosevelt Island. Operating in partnership with the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, the Cornell Tech campus offers about a dozen master's and Ph.D. programsEven undergraduate Cornellians often have close ties to the city. One example is Cornell's summer program for undergraduates majoring in fine arts. Another is the experience of summer internships in all fields.That first-class bus shuttles between the Ithaca campus and the medical and technical campuses in New York City. The trip takes about 4.5 hours.
